I was so fascinated with the view from Bexhill of the distant tiny outline of the Royal Sovereign Lighthouse that I decided to bring it nearer. In 2016 I completed a painting of it, which now hangs in our kitchen.
It’s sad to watch the lighthouse being removed, and its familiar shape diminishing on the horizon, while understanding it has more than served its purpose.
We hope the Bexhill Maritime project is a success and look forward to the day we can visit part of the recovered Lighthouse structure close up. Meanwhile, we enjoy the sight of my little big painting each day while cooking, eating or chatting over a cup of tea.
